Mimicry of the Bee Orchid
A visual exploration of the Bee Orchid which mimics female bees by appearance and scent, as a strategy for pollination (by luring male bees into attempting to mate with the flower). My sensory ‘portrait’ of the orchid combines external and internal characteristics of the flower and bee which are visually alike. Medium: collaged gauche hand-painted textures. 42cm x 84cm
